On the afternoon of July 21, student volunteers from HXIT’s “Future Intelligence Builders” team went to Wulinli Community in Wuhan and offered a free chemistry popular science lesson for more than 20 children from the summer care program.

Instead of complicated theories, the volunteers designed life-related experiments including catching air with plastic bags, candle combustion tests and fruit oxidation demonstrations. Combined with a chemistry card quiz, the interactive activities helped children observe scientific phenomena directly, making the class lively and engaging.

Wu Zhenqi, the team instructor, said volunteers kept optimizing the class activities to suit children’s understanding. The lesson aims to help kids discover the charm of science through fun and inspire their ambition to contribute to the country with science. The volunteers also gained valuable experience, deeply encouraged by children’s dreams of becoming scientists.

This summer, the team has visited multiple communities in Hanyang District, organizing science lectures and English courses for over 200 students. More accessible public welfare classes will be held in communities in the follow-up work.
